The Skuut Bike is currently the most popular wooden balance bike on the market. It features very nice design, some additional safety features and good riding capabilities, only the durability is not perfect.

Construction
Skuut is one of the wooden running bikes – it uses birchwood coated with a non-toxic lacquer. The wood looks really nice, however it`s not of a perfect quality – not as durable as metal bikes, also the seat gets worn after some time.
12" pneumatic rubber pressurized tires are used for comfortable ride and work well – just be careful not to blow them out by adding too much air.
The assembly is quick and easy.
Seat
Like other balance bikes, Skuut has an adjustable seat as well (but not adjustable handlebars). The lowest height it can be set to is 13 inches, the highest 16,5 inches – which means it can be too low for older or taller kids.
Safety features
The manufacturer claims that the Skuut bike has been equipped with additional safety stuff – so let`s take a look. What you recognize immediately are those Euro-styled wheels without spokes to prevent tangled shoelaces and similar problems. Also the turning mechanism prevents fast turns that can lead to tip-overs – without limiting the kid in movement.
We can say both these features are quite effective – but not extremely important.

Conclusion: If you like the cute wooden design or don`t want to spend too much money, Skuut is the right choice for you. Otherwise we would rather recommend you the slightly more expensive metal bikes – Strider or Kazam which provide better durability and some other features like footrest or adjustable handlebars. |
